Luke Fair | Balance 11

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Luke Fair - Balance 11EQ Recordings continues the tradition of premium quality electronic music with its next edition of the well-received Balance Series. Canadian DJ/ Producer Luke Fair will be working his magic on Balance 11. He has carved quite a reputation for himself as a producer and passionately experimental DJ, making him the perfect choice to follow others such as James Holden, Chris Fortier, Phil K, Paolo Mojo, Desyn Masiello, Anthony Pappa and Jimmy Van M. Fair’s music can be described as groovy, funky, housy and techy all at the same time. He has created a signature style for himself by creating and re-editing versions of songs for his own sets. In the studio, his genre-crossing productions run the gamut from Dub House to melodic Progressive. His music has landed on every major radio show across the world, including BBC’s Radio 1 Essential Mix and Proton Radio, and his edits have graced the decks with DJs from Digweed to Morillo.

The Balance series has firmly established itself as one of the top choices for discerning music lovers who have a taste for cutting-edge music mixed by the world’s best, but not always recognized, DJs. Balance 11 will only serve to prove this once again, as Luke Fair grabs listeners with his diverse music and takes us on a funky, tripped-out journey.

Fair will bring his funky, chunky vibe to various cities on 4 continents in 2007, tearing the roof off of notable clubbing hot spots such as Pacha (Buenos Aires), Bedrock (London), Red Light (Paris), Space (Miami), Zouk (Singapore) and Womb (Tokyo) and so many others. In 2006 Luke debuted in Australia with a 5-city tour across the continent and continues to play massive festivals like Creamfields and Godskitchen’s Global Gathering in the UK.

“The mood of this mix captures the sound of an entire night at a club, a full set from open to close. Starting out with deep House, then playing funky House and Techno and continuing with melodic Progressive towards the end. Every track will be heavily edited to personalize the mix a bit more, with lots of layering to make the whole thing as colorful as possible.” - Luke Fair

Balance 11 by Luke Fair is another foray into the mind-bending realm of electronic music provided by EQ Recordings.

Winter Music Conference ‘07 Preview

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

Winter Music Conference '07Every nightclub, restaurant, hotel lobby, lounge, room, poolside, boat deck…. during the WMC everything in Miami becomes a haven for punters. It’s a promoters dream - all the top DJs and producers from every genre in EDM in one nutty city at the same time.

It’s all about bringing your freshest and best and showcasing it to your peers and the hardcore clubbers that travel from all parts of the world to be at the right place at the right time. It’s the most saturated week in electronic music, the entire Ibiza season rammed into one week.

We’ll spend our time at the conference supporting our favs and promoting the amazing talents that have helped bringthebeats maintain over the past four-plus years. Of course on top of that list is Luke Fair. His Balance 11 party at Cafeteria on Saturday will be the highlight of our trip, but another two opportunities to hear him spin under the South Beach sky has us bubbling over with excitement as well.

The WMC will also allow us to hook up with Ricky Ryan. He too will be at the controls at Cafeteria, for Wednesday’s Proton Radio Party. If what he lays down is anything like the recent Feedback Radio mix that he compiled with Lucas Abadi and Paul Dolan, we’re in for a dulce de leche tasting treat.

Holosound earlyWe’re also going to meet many online friends in person for the first time. Topping this group is Holosound, Alex and Noah from NYC. Their mixes, both live and in-studio, have been blowing us away, one after another. This most resent promo displays a different side of “Illectro,” one that is super smooth and incredibly cool.

Holosound - early March 07 promo

There are so many phenomenal parties to choose from. It’s tempting to just throw away the notion of sleep to try to hit up them all. But this not so spring chicken has a job to return to next Wednesday, so we’ve narrowed them down to a short list. Here are some of the events that you may see us at… (more…)

John Do | Luke Fair | Ricky Ryan | Basic Frequencies

Saturday, February 17th, 2007

Wow, what an incredible Basic Frequencies Show on Proton Radio. I couldn’t have asked for more - all three bringthebeats bookings from 2006 going full tilt over the internet airwaves on a Friday afternoon.

As always John Do started things off sexy and smooth, moving from deep to driving while maintaining a steady House groove. What a pro, I love his music more and more each mix.

Luke FairLuke has recently submitted his two disc Balance 11 compilation, spun live in-studio at JUSTMUSIC.FM, released a two part masterpiece live from Lithuania and still he manages to compile a completely fresh hour for John and Justin’s show. Unbelievable the amount of music this guy has and even more unreal how he continually pieces together flawless sets. I know I’ve said it a million times before - and yes I’m completely bias – but Luke Fair is hands down the absolute best.

And finally… the blaze. Ricky Ryan is most definitely the rising star of this funky house genre. This live set from Brazil is an absolute monster. It was the perfect progression from John and Luke’s segments and finished the show off with incredible tempo and energy.

Never have I had so much fun doing the production schedule at work. Thanks guys.

Note: Please download one set at a time. If you’re having troubles with incomplete downloads it’s probably because too many people are accessing the files at the same time. Come back later when the server is not so busy.

BasicBasic Frequencies presents a slice of Los Angeles to the wired world. On the 3rd Friday of each month, top representatives from the long standing west-coast Basic event will showcase handpicked selections of contemporary grooves from 12-3pm PST.

In addition to the artists from the burgeoning California scene, the show will regularly include various musical guests from around the globe, bringing varied and sometimes suprising flavours to the table. Edgy, fun, and warm. Cutting edge with a nod to old favourites. Don’t miss your exclusive chance to hear the latest and greatest from LA!

Dave Seaman | Lexicon Avenue | Therapy Sessions

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

Therapy Sessions VolumeIIII’ve read way too many “Why Tiësto Doesn’t Want You To Vote For Him in DJMAG.com Top 100” threads over the past week and I’m seriously stunned by them. I’m sure he had only the best of intentions when he released this statement… okay… but if Tiësto really wants everyone to vote for the ‘new breed’ why doesn’t he support these artists by bringing them on the road or by backing them in a label project? I may be wrong – because I really don’t pay all that much attention to him – but everywhere he goes, isn’t it always just Tiësto?

One DJ who is making a living supporting up-and-coming artists - and who I have mad respect for as a result - is Dave Seaman. I’ve never heard of or seen this guy travel with a VDJ or a personal entourage, but I know he most always brings along a hand picked opening act. They’re often from a far off land and they’re always super appreciative of his extremely generous backing. Seaman presents the opportunity of a life time to these very deserving DJs and producers. He introduces them to the most prestigious dance floors in the world and is so sold on some of the talent, he’s created the Therapy Sessions compilation series to showcase their music alongside his own.
