Movember, a month where normal dudes look hipster, including  The Rogue Show.

Initially an Aussie phenomenon, Movember has now gone global, raising millions of dollars to increase awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer. They’re topics our egos hold us back from discussing, but desperately need to be understood.

Visit movember.com to get in the know.

Our Mo Bros may sport hipster styles, but they definitely don’t sound the part. Sticking with their roguish ways, Luke Fair & Add2Basket have put together another episode of funky deeeeeep goodness.

Thanks again to Roland Sipos for the dope designs.

The Rogue Show – Episode 012 – Luke Fair

This one goes nice and deep throughout. After releasing a five-part live set, I thought that it would be appropriate to keep things on the deeper tip. I’ve got a habit of buying tons of tunes that I can rarely use in clubs, but still need to be heard. So here they are.

The Rogue Show - Episode 012 - Luke Fair

The Rogue Show – Episode 012 – Add2Basket

I think this is my deepest Rogue mix ever – it may be the dark fall evenings – but its still filled with stories and moods.

INTIMATE & UNDERGROUND v10… we’re back baby!

Share

LUKE FAIR live at INTIMATE & UNDERGROUND v10It was so nice to be home.  After a 16-month hiatus from Toika we resumed the INTIMATE & UNDERGROUND series with bringthebeats’ marquee artist on the most special weekend of our year…

Nine years ago, on my birthday, I officially launched bringthebeats online.  The site was created to help develop my web skills and to support my Breathe guest lists.  Over the years we’ve made many variations to the look, but the focus has always remained the same:  to share the music we love using the incredible tools of the Internet.

Almost a decade after launch, we remain a grassroots destination committed to the underground nature of house music.  Despite the many temptations to sell out and go mainstream, we’re satisfied being a small but mighty crew in the know about music’s most sensational tunes. We’ll forever choose substance over size… everyone who was on the dance floor October 1st totally understands why (see us all here).

The cornerstone of our movement, from 2002 till today, is bringthebeats’ all-time favourite DJ.  Luke Fair has the skills to be World No.1, but he’s so humble and enamoured by the music, he can’t be bothered with all that bullshit.  He’s the perfect example of what we’re all about.

Both Luke and Toika were in top form for I&U v10, making our nine-year anniversary the most heart-warming party we’ve ever hosted.  I forgot about the togetherness of Toika.  When the sound’s just right, there’s definitely no other place for us.  Huge thanks to Winston and Junior for going the extra mile to insure everything was absolutely perfect.  And of course with Luke in the booth, that’s exactly what it was.

We’ve always been much more global than local, so it’s only fair we share the phenomenal memories of this night with our friends worldwide.  Each week we’ll upload another hour of Luke’s unforgettable five-plus hour set, starting with a 60-minute section tailor made for his closest friends.

Once the guests started to roll in, this how Luke began.  It’s a flawless hour of deep progressive house demonstrating Luke’s impeccable taste.  After hearing this you’ll start to realize why this party was so great.

Luke’s still including a lot of deep selections in hour two, but the dance floor is quite busy now, so you can hear him pick up the pace for stretches. There’s some disco-infused stuff and it’s all super funky… the party has most definitely started!

Luke’s our all-time favourite club DJ because he doesn’t need to switch genres to move the room. All he has to do is add a little edge and drive to his funky progressive and you have peak time.Hour three is INTIMATE & UNDERGROUND personified.

This is where Luke begins to mix it up for the masses. There’s no doubt techno is popular these days, but there’s few who can mix tech with house and spin it all progressively like Luke so masterfully does in this hour. It’s time to bring some edge.

We take pride in the I&U vibe being best at the end of the night… you can hear that in this final hour. It’s starts with the peak time pace of Part 4, drives towards some epic progressive selections and ends with some classic moments we’ll all never forget. This party was incredible from beginning to end. Thanks Luke.

Fresh Beats w/ Marcos Deon

Share

Fresh Beats w/ Marcos DeonThere’s absolutely no doubt our association with Luke Fair has provided a level of credibility we would’ve struggled to achieve on our own. Almost 100% of the DJs featured on this site list Luke as one of their inspirations.

His influence on the world of progressive house has powered our content from Day 1 and his continued involvement is a key factor why bringthebeats remains relevant nine years after launch.

Who would’ve thought such a low-key guy could inspire so many up-and-coming artists?  It blows me away he’s so chilled and focused soley on music, yet he’s managed to touch the spirit of virtually every DJ we listen to on a daily basis.

The “Luke Fair phenomenon” is our ultimate hook up.  Finding maestros like Marcos Deon is the proof.

I ask every Fresh Beats DJ to send a bio, a couple promo pics and whatever else they want me to plug in the post. Here’s Marcos’ edited response to what he wanted included:

“On October 29, I will play with Luke Fair, at Moinho Lounge. It will be the first time I will play with him, and this is gonna be a very important gig, because Luke has always been a great reference for me. If you could cite it in the post, I would be appreciated.”

Some extremely cool words about our friend. Can you imagine receiving such praise from one of your peers?  It’s a rare experience these days, and definitely a memorable one for all who were around the table when the message was passed on to Luke.

A handful of us headed back to the East Liberty Lounge following INTIMATE & UNDERGROUND v10. My personal tradition for each after party is to begin the festivities with the newest bringthebeats exclusive.  For this occasion, Marcos Deon was first in rotation.

Sey started grooving in the living room, Erik was head bopping on the couch and the rest were hip shaking around the kitchen island. One by one, everyone asked who was in in the mix, including Luke around the 30min mark (an unforgettable memory because As I Am is one of my favourite tracks).

“Do you like it?” I respond. “Yeah, it’s really good,” Luke says. “It’s Marcos Deon, your opening DJ on October 29th.” As Luke grins ear to ear, I proceed to read the above request from an email on my phone.

I know it’s kind of cheesy – and it was at the time – but after what Luke did in the club that night, and with Marcos’ fantastic set rolling over the Sonos, I think we all shared an internal group hug imagining ourselves in Brazil at the end of the month. At the very least I felt a sinister sense of satisfaction watching Luke squirm while feeling the praise… hehe, that’ll never get old.

What makes this story so very special is the excellence of the mix.  Marcos has compiled a composition of modern classics.  It’s a systematically thought-out melody of rolling baselines, lush chords and emotional sounds.  It’s one of those gems that can be used for relaxation or to amp the crowd.

You can tell it comes from the heart, and there’s no words that describe how much Luke and all the bringthebeats crew appreciates that.

The Rogue Show Podcast - Episode 011 - Luke Fair & Add2Basket

Subscribe via iTunes or at therogueshow.podomatic.com.

Our summer solace is over.  It’s back to work for The Rogue Show as Luke Fair and Add2Basket bring to you the 11th episode of their genre-defining podcast.  Funky progressive house has always been about fun and fresh sounds.  It’s what the guys strive to provide each and every instalment, and it’s what you have here in this first episode of fall 2011.

Coming off an outstanding appearance at Club Honey inside Sundance Park in Hungary, The Rogue Show is in prime form.

Add2Basket starts off with a compilation of light-hearted progressive house gems.  It includes some quirky moments alongside many emotional dance floor selections.  Andrew’s totally immersed in his craft these days.  He’s revived Add2Basket Records with its 55th release, he’s launching a new radio show called Neston and Andrew’s a contributor to Desyn Masiello’s Faciendo project.  Add2Basket’s totally in the groove, this mix is definite proof.

Luke Fair is back to his road warrior ways.   Joe Saltiel of Nightlaw Artist & DJ Agency has Luke globetrotting like never before, including an epic tour of Australia that has him digging deep into his progressive roots.  Of course everything’s still on the house tip, but you can tell in this podcast and in his exclusive for inthemix.com, Luke’s been catering to his strong Aussie fan base.  It’s super exciting for his progressive-loving crew in Toronto, because we have him here next.

Special thanks to our first guest designer Roland Sipos from Hungary.  ROLL’s “Do not disturb” design is a great addition to The Rogue Show cover art gallery which has been so masterfully put together with ten episodes of Jason Warth designs.  If you’re interested in donating your skills for a future Rogue Show episode cover, send a link to your portfolio to therogueshow@bringthebeats.com.

The Rogue Show – Episode 011 – Add2Basket

The show must go on…. Each episode continues to be my favourite. It’s my shortest Rogue mix, but you still get the story I want to tell. I insisted to include the amazing intro from Yonderboi’s (Hungary) new album (Passive Control), that everyone must hear… of course, after you’ve listened to The Rogue Show.  The typical weird ending comes straight from 1984.

Nothing fancy here. Just a lot of great music I’ve been playing out the last while. Hope you dig it!

The LocALe – Brad Copeland

Share

Back in the day, while captivated by magical Brad Copeland sets on the Stereo and System Soundbar dance floors, I used to conjure up images of what the underground would be like if it reached the mainstream.  I had grand illusions of slick-dressed clubbers – youthful and yuppie – pilgrimaging to contemporary -styled dance floors in homage of the most talented musicians in the industry.  I never imagined we’d have what we have today.

The LocALe – Brad CopelandSlick-dressed is hipster, bottle service minimizes dance floors and the underground hasn’t only become mainstream, it is mainstream.   At least this is what I see all over downtown Toronto.

So often I stand on the dance floors of the city’s hottest spots, complaining about the simplicity of the music and how it seems to be a norm in our scene nowadays.  Most of these conversations are initiated by my personal jadedness; however, over the past couple years many of my friends have approached me with the same conclusion:

Most of Toronto’s nightclubs are no longer about substance; they’re only about style.  Scenesters determine the popular music of the moment, and just like fashion, it’s completely random.  It doesn’t matter what comes out of the speakers, as long as the DJ looks hot and is having a good time.  The people on the floor can be convinced cheap-looking elf shoes are in style, and they can also be persuaded to believe Pauly D is actually a world-class DJ.

It’s a simple formula.  Dress the talent funky; ensure he / she play tunes everybody knows and flash their drinks as often as possible.  Keep it simple and make sure nobody’s completely locked into the groove. You mustn’t divert patrons from the ultimate goal, and that’s to buy more booze!

It reminds me of the time I went back to my hometown and its one nightclub.  The dance floor was packed as long as the DJ was dropping hip hop, but every once in a while he’s slip in a Brian Adams or Corey Hart track. Why would the DJ interrupt his own rolling vibe?  The bartender’s explanation: “If we play great music all night, people would forget to come to the bar.” Holy shit!  Toronto’s becoming Brantford!!

Like a Rob Ford spending cut, this suburban trend is adversely affecting the downtown core.  It’s the reason why we don’t hear real DJs like Brad in the booths of Toronto’s largest nightclubs anymore.  His seamless mixing is way too gripping to impose this drinks-first mentality.  Any B-Cope fan can share their many moments of dance floor entrapment caused by his groove-locking programming style.  Quality artists like Brad have no place in today’s club “business.”

Just listen to the first part of this exclusive for The LocALe.  You’d never hear the smooth melody of You Are Here to open a big club in Toronto. By the time he reaches the deep funk of No Crash, I guarantee you 9.5 out of 10 would have no idea Brad’s seven tracks in.  Everyone would be dancing so hard there’s no reason to even think, let alone take a sip of a drink.

It’s so sad promoters are depriving their customers of tunes like Sweet Hanley because that’s exactly the sound Toronto had always yearned for.  And they might as well close shop after Brad goes Back on Track because that shit’s going to have everyone confined to the floor.

Part 2 begins on a groovy tip and incessantly rolls with BC pace.  As Brad moves through Da Funk it emphasizes how he’s always been best as a headliner.  Only during peak-time hours are mega bombs like Love and Imitation done justice.  The entire mix transports me back to the cyclones of circular soundscapes at System and Stereo (had to write it).   Vadim’s Cottage Industry slams an exclamation point on that… all our nights with Brad end in such epic style.

Fresh Beats w/ Dana Bergquist

Share

It’s almost impossible for me to pinpoint exactly what my favourite genre of house is. I love the methodical style of Ricky Ryan and the funky progressive of The Rogue Show. I can’t get enough of Terry Lee Brown Jr.’s tech or the full-bodied sounds of Omid 16B.

Fresh Beats w/ Dana BergquistBut if I was to log listening hours over the past year, I’d have to say the likes of Dimitri From Paris, The Revenge and of course Dana Bergquist would top the list. It’s not because I like these DJs more than the others, it’s because of the accessibility of their music and how it accommodates the changes that have occurred in our lives since we started listening to it.

Back in the day when we were in clubs every weekend and house music was everything to us, it didn’t matter the pace or vibe, we blazed whatever was hot at the moment. Who we were with was never a concern because everyone around us was always in the know.

Nowadays, as we spend more of our free time with family and friends outside the scene, we need to be more selective with our queues. Especially when introducing people to real underground sounds for the first time.

Most people struggle to connect with tunes as complex as what you’ll find on this site.  Commercial music doesn’t contain the layers and depth of underground house.  It’s difficult for people who casually enjoy music to get into what they’re hearing when tracks are constructed in a more challenging manner.  Most only want one catchy hook, and that’s what commercial songs provide.  They’re easy.

The simplest way to bridge the gap that exists between the underground and the casual listener is to find mixes that incorporate vocals.  There’s something about a human’s voice that makes all music more accessible.  Even I must admit, a groovy verse can take any good track and make it incredible.

As you’ll hear in this Fresh Beats exclusive, Dana Bergquist is the master when it comes to featuring vocals in his sets.  Every one of his mixes can be played for any one of my friends or family members without fear of overwhelming ears.  He always compiles with a deep, smooth pace and uses selections that we all can relate to.  Dana’s music is the ultimate compromise.

Right away Dana drops this mix into some sexy Pillow Talk and continues the vocal symphony to its first climax, a pumping Hot Toddy remix.  There are so many cool moments wrapped around stellar transition tunes, but none are more amusing than the Cold as Ice apex.  And before you gather yourself, Dana’s back into the groove, closing things out with accessibility no other DJ I know can pull off.  No Matter What You Say, everyone can relate to a mix ending with Prince.

Fresh Beats w/ Alex Zeta Paul

Share

Fresh Beats w/ Alex Zeta Paul“AUSTRAL MIXING… ALEX ZETA PAUL…” I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had that voiceover stuck in my head.  Too many to count. It’s because of the insane number of incredible sets that have been made available through the Austral Mixing Podcast.  All thanks to the efforts of our Argentinian ally in the worldwide promotion of funky progressive house, Alex Zeta Paul.

Alex’s radio show on Sonic.fm has become a source to be reckoned with in the electronic scene.  Every Sunday night we’ll either be introduced to new underground talent or treated to a very special mix from one of house music’s finest vets.  From what we do here and through helping out with Basic Frequencies on Proton back in the day, I know how difficult it is to keep a radio show consistently fresh.  With 89 episodes and counting, Austral Mixing has managed to do it with sensational style.

What also intrigues me is that it took 84 episodes for Alex to feature himself.  That’s pretty selfless patience for a DJ in today’s fame-seeking culture.  I don’t know Alex off the wire, but this fact alone leads me to believe he’s an ace character and one I hope will continue to stay active in the scene for a very long time.

This Fresh Beats exclusive, and debut mix for AZP on bringthebeats, is all Austral.  It’s not your older brother’s progressive. This is the good stuff, intelligent house music spun progressively.

Turkos starts things off deep and melodic.  It then breaks off into some funky drums, showers down some groove and gets us bouncing Off the Walls before heading into a really dirty stretch with Smash your Face.   The track that begins at the 35min mark is the highlight cut for me.  You need to have headphones on when this one starts to blaze.  Listen to its depth.  It has so many layers and is so unpredictable.  Close your eyes and imagine being on the dance floor when this one goes off… that’s why progressive house makes a body move like no other music in the world.

Thanks for hosting all the amazing mixes you do Alex and lots of love for this masterpiece of the music you and I love most.  Brazilian btb’ers, be sure to check out Alex at the Moinho Lounge in Passo Fundo on Saturday July 30th, you know I’d be there if I could.

The concept of why we value the number 10 so much is pretty basic… we have 10 fingers and 10 toes. Through this simple fact, we measure importance in multiples of 10. In the case of The Rogue Show Podcast, 10 episodes symbolize a collective effort seemingly paying off.

The numbers tell the story. In the past 14 months we have almost 40,000 subscribers and 125,000 downloads. Our followers span virtually every country in the world that has population-wide access to electricity.

But figures aside and most importantly, Luke Fair and Add2Basket have assembled a collection of 10 timeless moments inspired by their entire careers. Something they’ll always be able to look back on and be proud of. And visually we can look at the gallery and know each episode means something more because of the inventiveness of Jason Warth Designs.

We’re super happy to have taken a conference idea and have made it into something that has reached the status of the perfect 10. I think that’s rare in amongst that madness. But thankfully we’re not done here.

On to 20, 30 and hopefully many more, because for as long as we’re around, only the best of deep funky progressive house will be featured on The Rogue Show, and that’s fantastic no matter what number we’re on.

The Rogue Show – Episode 010 – Luke Fair

This is probably my deepest Rogue Show mix so far. I had a ton of great stuff I haven’t been able to play out and thought it would complement my recent clubbier live set from Slovenia that I released in June.

The Rogue Show - Episode 010 - Luke Fair

The Rogue Show – Episode 010 – Add2Basket

After a little summer break with the podcast, I couldn’t wait to put the milestone episode 10 together. Every actual episode turns out my favourite of all, so has this one. This turned out to be another story teller mix. With simply browsing it you won’t get the message, so you better give it a full listen from the beginning to the end. A bit of everything again , intelligent house music, some cosmic disco, a kick ass funk tune (coming out on Add2Basket Records) even a big beat track and a beautiful indie song at the very end. Bon Voyage dear listener!

Fresh Beats w/ Gabriel Sordo

Share

Fresh Beats w/ Gabriel SordoI LOVE studio promos!  Downloading a live mix is cool, especially when you’ve been at the party and you’re reliving the memories. But for me, there’s nothing like a DJ who tests the waters to produce something unique.

It’s so intriguing to hear what DJs come up with for a Fresh Beats exclusive. It’s like Christmas morning every time I play one of these mixes for the first time.  Studio promos are created without the pressures of a dance floor and party promoters determining the play list.  They’re about representing an artist’s true tastes.  We like to like to offer a DJ the opportunity to be who they want to be, something that’s not often available in a nightclub.

Gabriel Sordo is one talent who ceases the moment every time he sends a promo our way.  He can rock a room as well any progressive DJ out there, his Soundcloud account proves that with a steady stream of live mix downloads.  But when it comes to his promos, he digs deep and provides melodic drama that’s become a signature of his music on this site.

This instalment starts off with a summery vibe.  It really kicks in with one of his edits, a sexy little version of the Lovebirds’ Want You in My Sol. Part one – yes, there are two distinct parts in this continuous mix – concludes the groove with a Duff Disco number that has me bouncing around the room like I’ve just been introduced by Cat Deely.

Gabby then breaks off into a second part of ambient progression that’s super deep and tribal, building insane tension before Running on Fumes.  James Blake, of all people, sets up another deeeeep section of methodical beats before transitioning into a dreamlike state that eloquently comes to a close with the mystical Piano Final.

This really is an incredible gift Gabriel has made for us.  We hope you find it as special as we do.

Fresh Beats w/ Felipe Callado, Fran Bortolossi & Pedro Bueno

Share

It’s really amazing my strongest connection musically is with people on the other end of the earth.  The South American vibe will forever be close to my heart and it only seems to get stronger as the years pass.

Our trips to Argentina and Brazil have only strengthened the bond.  And every time one of the suave South Americans visits us here in the north, we hang on to a little of their spirit to keep us inspired through the trials and tribulations of promoting our shared style.

This isn’t to say our mates in the south don’t struggle with the same issues we do.   Electronic hasn’t become popular by remaining underground.  So many artists and venues have compromised cutting edge for fame.  It’s the same all over the world. Underground enthusiasts like us may always be on the outside looking in when it comes to widespread success.

I’m not sure of the specifics of the situation, or maybe it’s just an accumulation of consistent disappointment from the commercialized scene, but Pedro Bueno’s temporary thrown in the towel on his DJ career.  And how can you blame him?  I’ve felt many of the same frustrations throughout the past several years, but I love the music so much, I always seem to get drawn back in.  I truly hope the same for Pedro.

Fresh Beats w/ Felipe CalladoFelipe Callado is dealing with his own set of complications with his newly launched brand Exzellenz.  He’s done everything right.  Exzellenzmusic.com is a slick promotional tool for the event series and bi-weekly podcast (which has already featured two incredible instalments from Add2Basket and Fran Bortolossi). When we were in Joinville the Exzellenz launch attracted 700 people to Moom, and another 1000 were outside wishing they could get in.  It was a seriously in-demand party. But convincing people on the dance floor to buy into a music-first concept is a whole other ball game.

This is why I love Felipe.  He could be satisfied with numbers, but without vibe, numbers mean nothing.  I know that, he knows that, and anyone who truly respects the scene knows that.  Its unfortunate most people pulling the strings don’t.

There’re two extremes: ones who are in it just for the money and others who are trying to escape a real job.   These people are either never on the dance floor or partying so hard they let special moments slip by unnoticed.

The harsh reality is it probably won’t change anytime soon.  If these guys want to continue to play music, if I want to continue to promote music, we’ll all have to fight the power right to the bitter end.  We’ll need to let the music speak for itself and do whatever we can to show the underground the proper love and respect it deserves.  Hopefully the others will follow suit one day, but we can’t hold our breath.

Fresh Beats w/ Fran BortolossiThis two-hour extravaganza from Felipe, Fran & Pedro is the best example why people need to take notice of what’s quality and what’s made just for quantity.  This mix was prepared over three months and was handled with so much care it couldn’t be passed on until it was absolutely perfect.

Each guy completed a section and then passed it on to another. Then they went through it again to ensure the flow was absolutely seamless when compiled as one.  Through the wonderful powers of the internet we have one cohesive set from three geniuses separated geographically, but connected musically and therefore emotionally.

I’m the fourth musketeer, so happy to have it on the site and so appreciative they’ve allowed me to put the bringthebeats brand on it.  Who knows this could be the last mix they do together?  I sure hope this isn’t the case, and after you’ve heard it, I know you’ll hope not too.

Fresh Beats w/ Ricky Ryan & Shlomi B

Share

Fresh Beats w/ Ricky RyanIt seems like forever since we offered an exclusive to the bringthebeats crew. Thanks to everyone who’s remained tuned into what we do on Facebook and Twitter and have continued to check in here with the faith we’d provide another mix made with all of you in mind.

After such a long break we figure there’s no better way to resume Fresh Beats than with two of the freshest of all, Ricky Ryan and Shlomi B.

Even though our club nights are fewer and farther between, the availability of great tunes sure hasn’t diminished. Progressive house continues to evolve, and maybe sounds better today than ever before. The constant flow of incredible tunes coming from Ricky is excellent proof.

I’m amazed how month after month he puts together press worthy compilations and of course the selections we heard from Ricky at the MOB Festival were absolutely mind bending. It’s a testament to the passion and skill of the producers creating this audio gold because let’s face it; they can’t be making a lot of money from the studio or booth these days.  Just like Ricky’s motto, it’s all made strictly for the love, and that’s amazing for you and me.

Hope you enjoy my new mix broadcasted xclusively on bringthebeats. From deep n’ gentle beats to bright n’ funky anthems, a mix of fruity loops from the Caribbean republic of Samana! – ricky ryan

Fresh Beats w/ Shlomi BMusic that’s made to be heard, not to earn, comes from the heart. These grooves are pure and organic, unlike the synthetic stuff produced with only fame on the brain.  Shlomi B is a guy who definitely follows Ricky’s motto.  This mix was sent to us with no time frame to be released, no expectations on how we’d put it out there or if we would at all.  He just said he made it special for us, do what you’d like with it. That’s strictly for the love.

Shlomi delves into some classic house vibes within a deep, soulful tech-house groove.  The pace is perfect from the first track to the last. It’s an ideal mix to have bringthebeats’ name on it and we’re incredibly appreciative it does.

The Rogue Show Podcast is officially one year old! One year of incredible music, eye-catching Jason Warth graphics and a couple mind-blowing live shows.

In a time where underground music is that again, truly underground, Luke Fair and Add2Basket have provided a year’s worth of funky underground house that capitvates the groove right from inside you. Nine episodes guaranteed to put you in a good mood and always mixed super smooth.

Now we look forward to even more out of this world sights and sounds in Year 2!!

The Rogue Show – Episode 009 – Add2Basket

Tried to expand the mix again as much as I can, including a bit of this and a bit of that.
Found a beautiful part in the new Bibio album that I ended up using as the intro, its probably
my favourite part of the mix. But in general, I consider Episode 009 as another baby of mine,
that i am pretty proud of.

Miami, there’s no other place we would have rather have been. Unfortunately three of the four of us didn’t go and were left to live vicariously through the texts, tweets and facebook posts of those living it up at Miami Music Week.

We knew the best live music on the planet was spun on South Beach, but we wanted to provide a little something to those who were still at home counting on a cool download to get them through the i-cannot-believe-i-am-not-in-miami blues.

So to all who were in the same leaky boat as us, The Rogue Show Podcast came to the rescue! Here’s another couple mixes of the funkiest, grooviest, most forget-about-miami-its-okay tunes you’ll hear anywhere.

And if you were down south anywhere close to our roguish designer Jason Warth, we’re sure you loved hearing them there too.

The Rogue Show – Episode 008 – Add2Basket

Again I tried to extend the mix to as long as possible so it could still fit on a CD. Got badly bored of the thousands of tech house releases coming out every week, so I decided to put together something more for the soul. The coordinates from beginning till the end are: slow motion and deep disco, deep house, house, and some melodies to end again.

The Rogue Show Podcast returns to awaken you from your winter slumber or enhance your summer fun. Wherever you are in this world, Episode 007 will do the trick for those yearning for warm, classic house vibes, as we are here in North America buried under mounds of crisp white snow.

It’s not easy to put together fresh and funky mixes these days. As we physically can’t get out from underneath the cold weather, the house obsessed struggle to dig their tunes out from under piles and piles of dark techno and festival-sized electro. Bomb hunting trips take twice as long to find half as many selections. Frustration can run high for artists like Luke Fair and Add2Basket who are determined to maintain their Roguish style.

But as they do with each new episode, The Rogue Show has come through with two promos that satisfy the groovy desires of me and you. Their music throws back to our roots, when the dance floor was filled with happy faces and smooth moves. So as the cliché goes… turn it up! Slide these mixes into rotation and add some sunshine to your cooler times!

His name is Jason… Jason Warth.  Major props to Agent JW  for the bad ass art. Big things are on the horizon for our design guy both graphically and musically. We anxiously await you taking your talents to the next level mate.
