Music has always meant a lot to Dustin Nantais, and that can be 100% attributed to the loving influence of his father Tim, who suddenly passed away earlier this month.
As you’ll read in his own words, Dustin owes his passion for all music to his dad. It’s a beautiful story of friendship and inspiration, with this Groove Garden Sessions podcast standing as an everlasting reminder of the special bond the two will share forever.
My dad was the reason I got into music at all. He put me in piano lessons at age seven and gave me my first guitar at age 10. He was always so passionate about music; it’s where I get my passion today.
When I was 13 we traveled across the country listening to non-stop Tom Petty, Sting and Progressive Rock. For the last few years he would send me tracks and YouTube videos of all genres; and in the last few months he was my biggest supporter. He would always remind me when he burned my latest house tracks to CD and blasted them in his Porsche.
It was around 9pm on a Thursday when I woke from a nap with a burning desire to compile a fresh mix for my friends at Groove Garden. I was half way into programming the podcast when I received the call, and later I learned I was about three tracks in when he passed.
This mix is dedicated to the man who pushed me the most to succeed. My life-long supporter, teacher, mentor, and biggest inspiration… Tim… my father. Rest in peace dad, Dustin.
