Audio Tonic presents Neil Quigley at 360

The last time that I wanted to go to the same place every Friday, month after month, was System Soundbar. What a legendary place that was, the crowd, the DJ’s, the darkness. That place is almost incomparable to anywhere else, and it definitely can’t be compared to anywhere in Dubai.
I used to love knowing that if I couldn’t get anyone to go to System with me, I would definitely have friends inside, or at least I would by the end of the night. I sometimes get the Cheers theme song stuck in my head when I think about it.
It is nice going to a place where you know you’ll always be greeted with smiles. So much like System, even when I can’t get anyone to come with me to 360, I don’t mind going alone. I know I will be able to enjoy the best deep, funky, uplifting, progressive, house beats with at least a few others that have the same appreciation for the music as I do.
The Audio Tonic nights have attracted some very talented resident DJ’s including Mike Daniel (the older brother of Maher Daniel who taught him everything he knows!), Ali Ajami, Vas Floyd, Ahmed Raxon, Jason Pinto and Audio Tonic pioneer Michael Bufton.
Last month Neil Quigley was booked to play but do to an oncoming storm we had to cancel his gig at the last minute. It rains about twice a year here so we were all pretty pissed that it was going to happen when one of our favourite DJ’s was about to fly in.
Although he didn’t make it the residents gave us one incredible night. We could see the storm rolling in from the distance over the water, with thunder and lightening streaking the sky, it was like our own private light show. The vibe was incredible; everyone was on the dance floor as the residents took their turns pounding us with the best old and new tracks, seamlessly intertwined. Then at 2am, right when the music has to be shut off, the rain started. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Sorry Neil, we really wish you had been there too!
So this week we are all even more excited that Neil will finally grace the decks. Ever since we started hosting Neil’s incredible sets on the site I have been dying to see him live. I know it will be well worth the wait.
His Transitions sets and live recordings are some of my all time favourites. I can’t wait to hear what he’s got in store for us this week. Mike Daniel will be opening up for Neil followed by a closing set from Ali Ajami and Maher Daniel, which is going to make the night even more special. I wish you all could join me!
For those who can, send a request to lisa@bringthebeats.com and I’ll sort list for you.

I loved System as well, for the few amazing times I was there (living in ottawa)…I won’t forget nye 2004, one of the best nights ever. Will be in Dubai later in the year and will definitely look you up for some serious house music fun!

I was in Dubai between Dec 20 – 26 and just missed the Boxing Day night I wanted to go for at 360. One day when I hope to be back home for good, I know where I’ll be every Friday night. Tom Morgan, Jody Wisternoff, Neil Quigley, Daniel Kyo – Audio tonic is definitely delivering.
haha at the storms in the cityjust saw a video of the Burj getting struck by lightning.
