Gabriel Sordo Blazes Toika Lounge

I always knew this was my kind of party; a super talented underground DJ in a stylish, intimate space. It’s a “can’t miss” combination; one we hope to work over and over and over again in the coming months.
Jeff Button was once again in the warm up slot for a bringthebeats event. He’s been playing stellar opening sets for us for over a year now and musically he never disappoints. Jeff’s track selection consistently coincides with the headliner to follow and his energy infectiously resonates from the booth.
Unfortunately for us, Jeff played a pretty high profile gig the week before at Footwork which consumed most of his crew, so our numbers were a little light while he was spinning. Nevertheless, he sustained a nice groove and by the time his set was over the btb crew was front and centre, ready to go off.
We booked Gabriel Sordo because of his unique selections and creative programming. Immediately he lived up to expectations with some deep, melodic, tech-house. He thought he started out a little off, but I really didn’t notice. He probably just had to shake the cob webs from our impromptu bender at Toika the night before.
Gabriel quickly moved into some grittier floor fillers, with a cool industrial feel. All of his selections had so much going on; layer after layer, it was like an electronic smorgasbord of sound. Each track had a purpose… make the room dance!!
The second half of Gabriel’s set was a full on progressive blaze. Not once did the room lose steam and right till the very last track the floor was busy and on the move. All night Toika was filled with happy vibes, which is an extremely unique experience when the music is so driving. Too often I’ve seen parties with such pace turn sketchy fast, but that wasn’t the case with Gabby in control.
Much does have to be said about the crowd. A great mix of guys and dolls, everyone was up for it all night and not once did the dance floor’s enthusiasm waiver. It was a great feeling to see so many people having fun in front of a DJ they’d never heard live. I so appreciate everyone’s trust in the music and the party and I’m even more pleased that Gabriel treated them to the night I knew he would.

GREGOR/LISA:
the first zip says “error: invalid compressed data to inflate”
I’ve downloaded it two times at different hours and the result has been the same; second part is perfect, i just refuse myself to listen to it without the first one.
Is it due to the monitors issue at the venue’s booth perhaps?
=P
cheers.
