Discoteca w/ Gabriel Sordo | Toika Lounge

After only a month away we’re back at Toika – and trust me – we’re extremely excited about it. The lounge style is truly our style and there is no place in the city more welcoming or better suited for a bringthebeats party.
Headlining this month is Discoteca’s Gabriel Sordo from Guadalajara, Mexico. Straight up, anyone aligned with Luke Fair, Dana Bergquist, Tom Morgan and BalErik has to be pretty dope. But alone and well before the Discoteca brand started pumping out bomb tunes, Gabriel had already established himself as a major player in the house scene.
We were introduced to Gabriel through Ricky Ryan’s former Feedback collective and have been avid listeners to all of his mixes for several years. However it’s Gabriel’s productions as a solo artist and with his Mexican mates Jorge Lopez and Beto Rodriguez as Somnos Corp. that have garnered serious, serious attention.
Most recently, Somnos Corp’s ‘Expo 86’ has been included on Nick Warren’s Global Underground ‘Peru’ an obvious honor to be one of the select artists featured in this legendary series. The three have also started taking their electronic show on the road, touring as a live act with upcoming gigs in Mexico and the USA this fall.
For as impressive as Gabriel and his crew are in the studio and on stage, you know for us it’s all about his skills in the booth, and of course he definitely doesn’t take a back seat in the DJ department. Why would we be booking him otherwise?
So in true bringthebeats fashion, we’ll promote our party with proof to how wicked it’s going to be. Starting with a live, off the cuff mix from a private party last month…

Following it up, we have something more calculated, a set compiled for Jody Wisternoff’s ‘Way out There’ show on Proton Radio.

Finally, the mix Gabriel made for Lisa’s ‘In Demand’ series; our favorite, no doubt.

Each of the sets above showcase Gabriel’s extraordinary range, blending house and tech so smoothly you can barely hear the transitions from track to track, genre to genre. They are a great representation of this dude’s incredible programing, mixing and super fresh track selection.
There are a lot of DJs out there. There are way too many producers pretending to be DJs. But there are few DJ / producers who are genuine artists. As you’ll hear through these sets and live on September 19th, Gabriel Sordo is one of them.
** There is no guest list for this event, just give the code words Somnus Corp. at the door and you’ll get in half price, only $5! **

I’m so happy that Gabriel is headlining a bringthebeats event, just a little sad I can’t be there.
After interviewing him in May I discovered that not only is Gabriel an amazing dj but a really nice guy as well. His In Demand set is one of my favorites in that series to date.
You are all in for a major treat, so get your butts into Toika lounge and enjoy the future of tech house progressive beats!
Watch out for this guy… Amazing night ahead!
