mercuryserver.com is hosting Luke Fair - Live at Club Seven - Barranquilla, Colombia 12-28-07.. another corker from luke

G - a lot of people in this scene i think need to have thicker skin and not take people opinions so personally. Anyone that knows you and BTB knows what you are all about and at the end of the day thats all that really matters. Whenever i hear, "this is a business".. makes me think these people are in it for the wrong reason. oh yeah, and thats MY OPINION.. hahaha

Why even use Trance addict? Doesn't that name itself show what kind of people are using that forum.. maybe I'm being harsh there but whatever. There are always going to be people that have a different opinion and I think its always good to read critism whether good or bad.

Most people have come to think of this industry as a money maker, and if you can be successful making money in it than I agree, good for you. But any industry is going to suffer from corruption and greed, so as long as you don't go down that root who cares what the rest say! They can support it but we don't have to.

I was doing a lesson tonight on sweatshops and corruption in China. Wal Mart purchased $9billion worth of goods from China last year. So if you and I stop supporting Wal Mart (I hate them btw) then does that really make a difference? Well probably not but at least you know your money isn't supporting it ..I think the same can be said about the Guv. People are never going to stop going and you and I not supporting it isn't going to do anything to hurt them.. but at least we know are parties are for the right reasons..does that analagy make sense?

Unfortunately, this post was copied into a thread on another board. Though I’m sure it was posted there with only the best of intentions, I obviously wish it hadn’t.

I was well aware that some of the comments made above were going to spark debate within the clubbing community, in Toronto in particular. This being the first time I’ve ventured outside of strictly promotional commentary on bringthebeats, I was actually hoping for it; but in this forum, not another.

I stand by everything I wrote 100%. Being an active participant in the scene for nine years, I believe I have a pretty compelling case to back these words up. That case may or may not unfold on bringthebeats in the coming months; I haven’t figured that out yet. However, as you can read, it’s definitely on my mind.

Regardless, what I’ve written here now, in the past or in the future, is absolutely my point of view and does not reflect the viewpoints of anyone else. I believe I’ve made this completely clear in the above post and it’s why this piece originated on our blog and not another public forum. It’s been a long time since I’ve written such an opinionate article on any site and in the future all such commentary will only be found on our properties, only bringthebeats at this time.

We’re in the promotions game full throttle now. The bringthebeats team puts in a lot of hours for this blog, a new site upcoming, EXPOSED and helping promote other dance music entities around the world. We’ve been constantly told, “this is a business and sometimes the business isn’t fair,” especially to music focused people like us. So why shouldn’t we participate in “the business?” Why shouldn’t we throw a few punches instead of being the ones receiving the shots?

This may or may not put us dead centre in the middle of the radar. If it does, that’s a flattering situation to be in because which upstart, underground promoter hasn’t or isn’t under the gun in the current clubbing environment?

We’re going to continue to book the DJs and producers we love and respect and we’ll go on promoting the music and parties we think are worthy no matter what anyone else does. And if we run into some competitive obstacles along the way, so be it, I’m sure the existence of this article wouldn’t have made a difference either way.

Wow G sometimes your memory amazes me! It's hard for me to believe I've been gone for most of the parties you mentioned here but I'm keeping very up to date via this site and through the amazing sets that our beloved djs are putting together. I definately agree that the Discoteca boys are #1! I have been rocking all of their sets through 2007 so I thought I would let you know which ones have been my favourites over the year:

From my favourite Scottboy Tom- In Demand! I'm happy to say these sets that were produced in 2007 for the new In Demand section have been incredible!
His EG podcast is on my cellphone and only the best make it on there!

Erik Molthe gave me quite a few ecletic mixes, he always puts together something interesting. My favourite was a tie between his summer mince mix and his Aug EG podcast.

I didn't hear much from Gabriel Sordo this year but I agree with your pick. Hopefully we will be hearing more of him in the '08.

Dana Bergquist- my favourite from his no question is his June Through the Looking Glass mix. It starts off so chillin with some incredible soft vocal tracks and then naturally progressess into something more upbeat. This is also on my cellphone, I never get tired of this one!

I'm so excited for Miami when we can party with these guys altogether for their Discoteca pool party!

2008 is going to be a crazy year so lets have fun wherever we are!

as always top notch review mate! I have to say I got a feeling something went on with Ricky in the latter part of the year. But I for one can agree he is one of the most genuine people I know, and not even just from a musical stand point, from a human being stand point. It is so great to see his rise to the top.
